Head of Department

From HOD Desk

It is my privilege as the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering of Mohammed Haji Saboo Siddik Polytechnic to share certain facts about the department.

The laboratories of the department are well equipped. The rotating machines and static equipments of the ground floor laboratory of the department cater to the need of the curriculum which has been revised and updated by MSBTE regularly and systematically. All the rotating machines are provided with Panel with measuring instruments which were obtained through final year projects as well some new machines are also installed. The fluorescent tubelights were replaced totally with LEDs which is an energy conserving technique. Through another final year project, the huge supply Panel of the laboratory was replaced by a wall mounted and compact one and one more remarkable final year project is the installation of Solar Power Station at the terrace of the polytechnic which is supplying the lighting load of the department. The department has separate Electronics laboratory and Computer laboratory in the 4th floor of the institution.

You Will Learn

  • In a power generation plant where electrical energy is produced, the application of this engineering is huge. All the mechanical and as well as electrical equipment involved in producing electrical energy, such as alternators, boilers, turbines etc. are controlled and protected by electrical signals.
  • All the relays and switches involved in operation of the equipment are either electromechanical or static electronics devices. In the modern age, these devices are digitally controlled by computer software.
  • Power generation, electrical power transmission & distribution, control & power system protection, electrical switchgear, power transformers, control & protection relays, transmission & distribution substations, and all switch yard equipment.
  • Maintenance of Electric Supply.
